This instrument is suitable for the determination of aniline point of petroleum products by placing a specified volume of aniline and sample in a test tube and mixing it with mechanical agitation. The mixture is heated at a controlled rate until the two phases are completely mixed. The mixture is then cooled at a controlled rate, and when the two phases are separated, the recorded temperature is the aniline point.
